Stacy and Babajide, a couple from Lagos, Nigeria, dreamed of giving their beloved daughter a sibling, just like many other parents.

However, during a routine ultrasound, they received a completely unexpected surprise.

Stacy was overjoyed to learn she was carrying twins, but the 31-year-old could never have anticipated what awaited her on the day of delivery.

When Stacy arrived at the hospital for her scheduled cesarean section, she was filled with excitement. She and her husband eagerly anticipated meeting their baby boys, Daniel and David Omirin. But the moment she laid eyes on them, the couple was taken aback.

A Rare Sight Daniel had dark skin and curly black hair, resembling their older sister Demilade. David, on the other hand, was born with golden curls and fair skin, a contrast that left everyone in awe.

Stacy and her husband, both of African descent, were completely surprised by their twin boys’ contrasting appearances.

“We had no idea they looked so different until they were born,” Stacy shared with Bored Panda. “The ultrasound didn’t reveal anything unusual, so it was a huge surprise and an unforgettable moment when the first twin, Daniel, came out with dark hair, and the second twin, David, followed with golden hair.”

She went on to describe the delivery: “I had them via C-section, and the doctors immediately remarked, ‘It seems you’re having completely unidentical twins.’ Before I knew it, nurses started coming in just to see them.”

The boys’ unique looks often leave people puzzled. Stacy admitted that many struggle to believe both children are hers or that Babajide is their father.

When the babies were born, Stacy was overjoyed and didn’t give much thought to their strikingly different appearances. She vividly remembers the nurse’s reaction when Daniel arrived.

”Daniel came first, and then the nurse said the second baby has golden hair. I thought, how can this be possible? I looked down and saw David, he was completely white,”Stacy shared with The Daily Mail.

Despite her joy, Stacy wasn’t entirely sure how her husband would react. Thankfully, his response was heartwarming.

“Their dad was overwhelmed with emotion and instantly nicknamed David ‘Golden.’ He fondly calls him Mr. Golden,” Stacy explained. “He was overjoyed seeing his boys, standing for over 10 minutes just staring at them. He said he was marveling at God’s incredible creation and called them the best gift he’s ever received.”

Despite their strikingly different appearances, Daniel and David share the same parents. David was born with a rare genetic condition called oculocutaneous albinism. This disorder results in a lack of pigmentation in the skin, eyes, and hair, giving individuals with albinism their distinctive features.

Black and White Twins Albinism affects a considerable number of people in Nigeria, with over two million individuals living with the condition, according to some reports. The World Health Organization estimates that one in every 5,000 to 15,000 people in Sub-Saharan Africa is born with albinism. By comparison, in Europe and North America, the prevalence is about one in 20,000.

Living with albinism in Nigeria can be difficult due to societal discrimination and misconceptions. Thankfully, Stacy and her family have not encountered such challenges so far.

Black and White Twins Albinism affects a considerable number of people in Nigeria, with over two million individuals living with the condition, according to some reports. Thankfully, Stacy and her family have not encountered such challenges so far.

The boys may be twins and best friends, but their personalities and interests set them apart. Daniel is outgoing and loves food, while David prefers to observe his surroundings and take things in quietly. Despite their differences, both boys are equally kind and lovable.

“People often ask, ‘Excuse me, madam, which one of the kids is yours?’ I just smile and say both of them are mine. The looks I get are usually filled with disbelief. Honestly, I was just as surprised when they were born, even as their mother. When the doctor told me my twins weren’t identical, I didn’t know what to expect. But seeing their different hair and skin colors was truly astonishing. I understand why others are taken aback—it still amazes me, too.”

Stacy and Babajide, a couple from Lagos, Nigeria, dreamed of giving their beloved daughter a sibling, just like many other parents. Born on February 26th, 2019, just minutes apart, the twins were immediately special. But it wasn’t their shared big brown eyes that made them extraordinary—it was their striking differences.

As a mother of three, Stacy initially worried about David—both in terms of how others might react to him and his overall health. Albinism can sometimes bring challenges such as sensitivity to sunlight and vision problems. Fortunately, David has not faced any significant health concerns.
