Denzel Washington just announced a slew of new projects and with it comes a surprise that many may not have seen coming.\n\n\n\n

Denzel Washington, 69, is preparing to step away from Hollywood after completing a final slate of films, signaling the end of a career that has spanned decades.\n\n\n\n

Speaking with Australia\u2019s Today show, Washington shared, \u201cI don\u2019t know how many more films I\u2019m going to make. Probably not that many.\u201d\n\n\n\n

His upcoming endeavors include reprising his role as Othello, a character he first played at age 22\n\n\n\n

Beyond that, he\u2019s hinted at collaborating with Steve McQueen and Ryan Coogler, who is reportedly crafting a role for him in the next Black Panther film. Washington also mentioned projects like King Lear before teasing, \u201cAfter that, I\u2019m going to retire.\u201d\n\n\n\n

Washington\u2019s career began in 1977 with the made-for-television film Wilma, followed by his feature debut in 1981\u2019s Carbon Copy. Since then, he has become one of the most respected actors in Hollywood, known for unforgettable performances in films such as Glory, Training Day, and Malcolm X.
