Goldie Hawn has talked openly about the day she confronted Harvey Weinstein after he blew up their previous \u201cdeal.\u201d\n\n\n\n

In the late 1980s, Weinstein\u2019s production company Miramax was ready to adopt the renowned Broadway musical Chicago for the big screen. Hawn was slated to portray Velma Kelly, and Madonna would play Roxie Hart.\n\n\n\n

A different script that featured a younger Velma, age 23, was commissioned by Weinstein during the film\u2019s development. Hawn was 20 years older at that time\n\n\n\n

After the film\u2019s eventual collapse, Weinstein reworked it with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Velma and Ren\u00e9e Zellweger as Roxie. The movie won the Best Picture Oscar the following year.\n\n\n\n

Hawn was delighted to learn that the now-excommunicated media tycoon did, in fact, pay her the agreed-upon amount for her work.\n\n\n\n

She said, \u201cYou can sometimes win when you stand up to a bully. The best thing about you paying me, I told him later, is that it\u2019s not about the cash. You helped me regain my faith in morality and decency.\n\n\n\n

In Los Angeles and New York, Weinstein is serving a lengthy prison term for sexual assault-related offences.\n\n\n\n

He told the newspaper behind bars, \u201cActing roles were always selected based on what was best for the movie, both aesthetically and financially.\u201d.\n\n\n\n
