Parents Pay Tribute to ‘Beautiful’ Teen Daughter Who Passed Away at 13

A grieving family has shared touching tributes to their 13-year-old daughter, remembered as a “gentle, beautiful soul” who filled their lives with joy. Mia Holland, a student at Co-op Academy in Stoke-on-Trent, tragically passed away earlier this year, leaving her parents, siblings, and friends heartbroken.

Her mother Laura recalled Mia’s kindness and compassion: “She was the most thoughtful person. I remember one day she saw a man in need and insisted on buying him food, a pillow, and even a quilt with her own savings. That was who she was — someone who cared deeply about others.”

Her father Chris described Mia as “an amazing daughter, sister, cousin, and cherished friend. She lit up every room with her bright eyes and radiant smile. If you needed a hug, she would drop everything and give you the warmest squeeze. They were the best hugs.Mia enjoyed spending time at home with her family, practicing her hair and make-up skills, building Lego creations, and dancing with her siblings. Her family said she was happiest surrounded by those she loved most.Teachers at Clayton Hall Academy, where Mia previously studied, also remembered her as a hardworking and well-liked pupil. Headteacher Caty Reid noted: “Mia had a positive experience at school, and we were always focused on supporting her needs. She will be greatly missed.”

Raising Awareness and Support

Mia’s passing is a reminder of the importance of open conversations about young people’s emotional wellbeing. Families, schools, and communities are encouraged to work together to recognize the signs of struggle and to offer compassion and support.
