Priscilla Pointer, a beloved actress whose career spanned more than eight decades, has passed away peacefully at the age of 100.
Known for her unforgettable role as Rebecca Barnes Wentworth in the hit TV series Dallas, Pointer built a legacy of powerful maternal characters on both stage and screen. She often performed alongside her daughter, acclaimed actress Amy Irving, in films such as Carrie and The Rage: Carrie 2.
Born in New York City to artist parents, Priscilla began her stage career in the late 1940s, appearing in Broadway classics like A Streetcar Named Desire. After raising her family, she returned to acting in the 1970s, gaining recognition with her soap opera role in Where the Heart Is and later appearing in films like Blue Velvet, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, and The Falcon and the Snowman.
Pointer’s career was deeply intertwined with her family: she co-founded the San Francisco Actor’s Workshop with her first husband, director Jules Irving, collaborated with her children on projects like Rumpelstiltskin, and was married to actor Robert Symonds until his passing.
Her last television role was in Cold Case (2006). She leaves behind three children—David, Katie, and Amy—and a legacy of artistry and resilience that will continue to inspire generations.
